war of the weeds
once again i had a great weekend. this has become a bit of a habit lately. we went to brum again to see the reception place all done up for a wedding. it looked really good, and now we know more of what we want to have for our reception. i want lots of balloons.
we went to see chris and jill (bigbig brother and sister-in-law) to talk weddings and see their wedding photos. they took us to fairy castle hotel in droitwich to ask about bridal suite for our wedding night, but fairy people were snobby and fobbed us off because we weren’t posh enough. bit disheartened by that. came out with a lot of “how dare they..” comments for the next half hour.
on saturday evening i left chris and jill babysitting carl and went on a girly night out with michelle and kelly at an ultra expensive pub. anyone wanting to go to the hare and hounds in rubery/rednal be warned that a smirnoff ice bottle is £2.95 (!). chatted all night and had a good time. no one really got drunk, although michelle said she chucked in the night so maybe she was further on than we thought she was.
went to church on sunday morning. it was the baptism of nick the vicar’s baby boy. baby was very cute and the service was quite good too. nick is a great vicar, he makes it all really funny. so glad he is going to be the one to marry us. although i need to speak more to him next time i see him. i go all shy and awestruck around him, so he prolly thinks i’m a bit standoffish. had to sing an african hymn in weird language during the service, for this couple who are going to live in kenya. i looked at the words for it and said “bloody hell”, which was bad since we were in a church :(
next weekend i’m going to newcastle for a conference. carl isn’t coming with me so it’ll be all lonely. weekend after that though we are back in brum so that will be another cracking weekend. the one after that we are (prolly) going to wrexham to see carl’s mum and dad. what with all the wedding preparations going on in brum we haven’t been able to go see them for ages. don’t know what’s planned for after that yet. something else exciting i’m sure. it has been quite nice to be going places every weekend, although a weekend at home to ourselves might be welcome soon.
