well, it’s a cliche to blame the ref for throwing a game, but i don’t think anyone could argue that england’s treatment tonight was fair. yes, we didn’t play too well and if we were playing a better side than portugal then we would prolly have seen the match go beyond us much earlier. but we battled away and it’s goals that win games (duh) and we scored 2 to their 1 in normal time, which usually is enough to win. shame the ref decided to overrule the linesman and disallow our 2nd goal. yes, referees have a difficult job, but if they aren’t in a decent enough position to get a good view then they rely on better placed linesmen. they don’t overrule them. unless you are a grocer from zurich of course.

god i hate penalties. we always seem to lose them and someone always ends up crying. hmm, the disappointment seems to be kicking in now that the nervous tension is dissipating.

oh, and a note to the anti football mob that i seem to keep coming across these days. it’s fair enough that you don’t like football, but please let it be fair enough that me and other people do. i don’t wish the cricket team or formula one people or golf people badly because i don’t like those sports. i don’t mock people when things go wrong in their chosen sports, i just don’t take any notice. so please be moving along now. there is nothing to see here anymore.
