busy in brum
carl said in his blog how busy our weekends are this month. it is good though, hopefully this will be a productive month for wedding planning. it needs to be really. we are also seeing lots of our respective families, which is really nice and quite rare now.
so last weekend i went to brum leaving carl in kirkby to fend for himself. it was the furthest i have driven on my own, but it was all fine. stopped singing to my muse cds when my throat started feeling a bit raw. almost exited the m42 at the wrong junction when i was daydreaming and just following the car in front. that was the most exciting thing to happen though.
got to brum quite early really. picked up some flowers for my nanny from the flowerman who lives in a layby just off the m42. really pretty blue and cream ones. went to visit nanny and grandad. was a really good visit. nanny has been in hospital for a long time recently, having and then recovering from a triple heart bypass operation. she seems to be doing well now. she is gaining strength and her operation wounds have practically healed.
went from there to pick up my best friend michelle and my sister-in-law jill and we all went into town for a spot of bridesmaid dress shopping. 5 hours later we think we have found a suitable dress. should mention that jill is pregnant and is due 2 days before the wedding, so we were looking for a dress that would look good on both a slim girl and a heavily pregnant/just given birth girl. not easy.
in the evening i went out with michelle and met up with 2 other good friends i have kept in touch with from my schooldays. we talked lots about who from school we have seen lately and what everyone is doing and who has had more kids. my school year seem to have had enough kids to populate several infant /junior school classes. i feel a bit left behind :)
on sunday i went into town with my mum and dad to get dad measured up for his father of the bride suit. he looked really good in the top hat and morning suit, like an edwardian gentleman. took mum to see the bridesmaid dresses we found and i got her approval for them. then i came back home to find that carl had spent most of the weekend cleaning the kitchen. i should go away more often.
so, the wedding gift list cards should arrive on friday, which means the invitations should be sent out this weekend. wine and champagne is being sorted, everyone’s outfits are nearly done, honeymoon is being investigated, favours and table decorations are practically decided upon, dj is going to be chased up this weekend (hopefully). things seem to all be coming together. mustn’t forget to give the blue forms to the vicar.
